Oh! What's occurrin'!
US TV network FOX has reportedly ordered a script for an American adaptation of Gavin & Stacey with James Corden and Ruth Jones set to serve as executive producers alongside David Rosen (I Just Want My Pants Back).
The original BBC series ran from 2007 - 2010 and aired 20 episodes (including a Christmas special in 2008) documenting the long-distance relationship of Gavin Shipman (Matthew Horne) and Stacey West (Joanna Page), with creators and writers Corden and Jones co-starring as their respective best friends, Smithy and Nessa. The US version is said to be of a similar setup and will - like it's UK counterpart - also focus on the vastly different families of the show's title characters.
This isn't the first time a US adaptation of G&S has been conjured; ABC gave it a go in 2009 with Stacy Traub and Hayes Jackson at the helm, but the program was seemingly abandoned before it ever really got off the ground.
Gavin & Stacey US currently has no cast and no official air-date. Cordon or Jones are not expected to appear.
What do you think? Are you excited...or furious?
